A Little Freaked Out? Lack of Confidence?

I love jumping and would never stop no matter what happens, but sometimes I doubt myself by thinking maybe im not going to be able to make a turn or hes going to go out of control. I've been doing alot better but sometimes just get a little freaked out because i'm in a jumping lesson and some of the lesson horses really arent the best jumpers, but are given to us anyway because were the "advanced" riders and should be able to deal with it. Sometimes I mess up the course completly but im not always able to end on a good note because were out of time. It really leaves me hanging.

I toatally know what you mean! I would always just worry and worry about what would go wrong and then it would always happen. Whether you realize it or not when you think something is gonna happen , you sort of make it happen. For example-- If your horse keeps refusing, then when you set up for the jump you expect it so then you start leaning in that direction and anticipating it and then your horses thinks "oh yay, freebie to duck out!" or you drop your horse right before the fence and totally confuse him/her
My best advice is to trust your horse and think in your head that you know your horse is going to do what you ask -- even if they don't. To get your horse over the fence (or whatever scenario it may be) you've got to ride him right over that fence.
best wishes!
all horses r nice but they turn angry when they see u freacked out act nicer and more confident when ur riding and youll be just fine
I would talk this over with the instructor. Ask if there is anyway you could ride a few more minutes so you end on a good note and can help build your confidence. IF the answer is no tell them you understand as the horse has already put ina full days work or they might need the arena for another class. But make sure they know of the problem and if they wont work with you then insist on a better horse. You are paying them to teach you to help you and to build your confidence. If they wont work with you find another stable.
Sounds like you need a little "confidence booster"... I would start by asking your trainer to put you back on one of the Intermediate level horses, one that you are confident will do the course for you, for a few weeks or even months until you start to feel a little more comfortable. What you are feeling is natural, but if you don't address the issue now, you're going to get burnt out and frazzled and that could lead to you disliking the sport all together or to an accident. So...it's okay to back off, just because your trainer wants to put you on the "advanced" horses, doesn't mean that you can't go back to a solid, honest jumper from time to time to get your confidence back. Good luck and keep working at it!
Even the top show jumpers get it wrong - the more practise with different/difficult horses/ponies the better and more confident you will get.
Stick with it, just keep your legs on and look up !!
